How to Measure
Use a soft tape and enter measurements in inches. Wear light clothing and your intended bra. Stand naturally, measure twice, and don’t add extra room. The guide separates body measurements from your preferred neckline, sleeve, and hem lengths.
- BustWrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, keeping it level across your back and comfortably loose (one finger should fit behind the tape).
- WaistFind the narrowest part of your torso, typically an inch or two above the belly button. Bend slightly to the side to feel your natural crease.
- HipsStand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, keeping the tape level all the way around.
- HeightStand straight against a wall without shoes. Measure from the top of your head down to the floor. A friend helps with this one.
- Neck widthHave a friend measure from the back, horizontally between the two neckline edges at shoulder level. Do not measure all the way to the outer shoulder tips.
- Front neck depthStarting at the base of your neck (where your shoulder meets your neck), measure straight down to where you would like the front neckline to end.
- ShoulderStand with shoulders relaxed. Locate the shoulder points on both sides (where the shoulder seam of a well-fitting shirt would sit). Measure straight across the back from one shoulder point to the other, keeping the tape flat on the upper back.
- Arm holeStand with your arm slightly away from your body. Place the tape at the top of your shoulder and run it under the arm and back to the start, creating a loop around the arm joint.
- ArmStand with your arm slightly away from your body. Measure your bicep (the widest part of your upper arm) by wrapping the tape around that point.
- SleeveWith your arm relaxed at your side and slightly bent, measure from the shoulder seam down to your wrist bone, or to where you want the cuff to end.
- WristMeasure around the wrist bone where the sleeve cuff would sit. Keep the tape snug but not tight.
- LengthFrom the highest point of the shoulder next to the neck, measure down the front to where you want the hem of the garment to fall.
- Front bodice / shoulder to waistMeasure from the highest point of your shoulder (next to your neck), over the fullest part of your bust, down to your natural waist (where you want the horizontal waist stitch to sit). Keep the tape comfortably against your body without pulling it tight.
